LooScout has been rebuilt around one job: finding a loo quickly on your phone. There are now 57,000 listings across the UK, Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Behind the scenes, the admin panel has been rebuilt from the ground up. • Map as the home page. Opens at your current location and highlights the nearest loo that’s open now, with a prominent GO button showing directions and walking time. • Improved mobile layout. Nearby loos appear in a draggable bottom sheet. The map, panel and tab bar fit different phone sizes, including iPhones after the keyboard has been used. • Useful filters. Filter by open now, free, accessible, baby change and gender-neutral facilities. • Place and postcode search. Search directly from the bar at the top of the map. • Faster map loading. Loos load for the area you’re viewing. In busy areas, markers group into numbered clusters that separate as you zoom in. • Clearer map pins. Shapes as well as colours indicate whether a loo is open, closed or has an unknown status. • More accurate opening hours. Loos without recorded hours display “Hours unknown” rather than incorrectly appearing closed. 🗺️ BROWSING • Browse by place. Explore nearly 4,000 cities and towns, each showing its number of loos. Existing location links continue to work. • New mobile navigation. The tab bar now includes Map, Places, Ranks and Me. • Simpler loo submissions. Adding a loo is now accessed directly from the map. 🚻 LOO PAGES • Redesigned loo pages. Opening hours, facilities, price and directions are easy to find at a glance. • One-tap ratings. Rate a loo with a single tap and earn points. • Automatic naming. Imported loos without a proper name are automatically given one based on their location when first opened. ➕ ADDING A LOO • Quicker submissions. Use your current location to place a pin. Names and addresses are optional. • Duplicate warnings. Get notified when a loo is already listed nearby. • Clearer error messages. Opening-hours errors remain visible so mistakes aren’t missed. 👥 PROFILES AND COMMUNITY • Redesigned profiles and leaderboard. Includes friendly default avatars displaying your initials. • Achievement badges. Earn badges for reaching milestones. • Improved submissions and support. Submission and support pages have been redesigned, and support tickets now work like a chat. 🎨 LOOK AND FEEL • A refreshed design. New fonts, a new mascot and improved text contrast make the app easier to read. • Dark mode. Automatically follows your device’s appearance settings. • New app icon. LooScout rose now features across the home screen, browser tab and installed app. • Friendlier error pages. The mascot appears on error pages, with fallback images displayed when a photo is missing. 🔐 YOUR ACCOUNT AND SECURITY • Password verification. Your current password is required to change your email address or password. • Stronger password requirements. Passwords must contain at least eight characters. • Protection against password guessing. Repeated incorrect passwords trigger a 15-minute sign-in lockout. • Complete sign-out. Signing out fully ends your session. • Review protection. Listing owners can no longer delete reviews written by other people. ℹ️ INFORMATION AND PRIVACY • Updated information pages. About, Contributors and Contact have been rewritten. • Clearer privacy policy. Explains how your location and place searches are used.

As part of our response to recent PHP security concerns and recommendations to keep server environments up to date, we undertook a full audit of our code base. As a precaution, we opted to upgrade to the latest available software and as a result we took Looscout offline to ensure this was complete. During this process, Looscout.com experienced a period of service interruption. We apologise for any inconvenience this caused to users who rely on Looscout.com to locate public toilets and nearby facilities.
